Short Bio

Odile A. van den Heuvel (1973), psychiatrist, is leading the research section Neuropsychiatry at the Department of Anatomy & Neurosciences, VU University Medical Center (VUmc) in Amsterdam, primary focusing on translational research in frontal-striatal disorders (e.g., Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Tourette's Syndrome, Parkinson's Disease). She leads the international OCD Brain Imaging Consortium (OBIC), a multi-center structural MRI study in OCD and is member of the World Health Organisation (WHO) International Advisory Group for the revision of the ICD-10 Mental and Behavioural disorders, Working Group of the Classification of Obsessive-Compulsive and Related disorders. Odile van den Heuvel received the prestigious VENI grant (innovational Research Incentives schema) of the Dutch Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and the NARSAD Young Investigator's award of the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation for an innovative brain imaging study on emotion regulation and cognitive control in OCD.
