Research Summary
My experience spans the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, and neuroimaging. My current goal is to uncover the role of the glutamatergic system, iron deficiency and cognitive control networks in the pathophysiology of TS. I aim to use a procedure that is commonly used in the neuropsychiatric literature in which clinical and MRI data is acquired both off- and on-treatment for a more nuanced interrogation of pathophysiology. Our hope is that this work will have implications on future tic-suppression therapies and models of TS pathophysiology.
Research Interests
Deconstructing the pathophysiological mechanisms of movement disorders such as Parkinson`s disease and Tourette Syndrome (TS) in a bid to (a) explore the neural basis of fine-motor and loco-motor control, and (b) translate this basic knowledge into therapeutic applications (Keywords: Movement Disorders, Parkinsons Disease, Tourette Syndrome, Image Processing, Python, Diffusion Imaging, MR Spectroscopy, Resting state fMRI, Glutamatergic modulatory therapy, Deep Brain Stimulation).
