Project Title:Investigation of the role of copy number variations (CNVs) as genetic susceptibility factors involved in pathogenesis of TS and co-morbidity disorders

Short Bio

My name is Rayan Houssari. I have earned my Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the American University of Beirut - Lebanon (2012). In 2014, I received my Masters in Biomedical Sciences from Malmö University - Sweden. Before I started my masters, I served as a lab technician for one year in the American University of Beirut Medical Centre. During my Masters and internship, I got involved in different biomedical and cancer related projects that aimed to study the cytotoxic effects of Aluminium adjuvants and polymers on different cell lines. Recently, September 2015, I joined the TS-EUROTRAIN network were I am responsible for identifying and investigating new susceptibility genes involved in the pathogenesis of TS through a CNV dataset from 250 patients. As a new member of this network, I am enthusiastic to have the occasion to improve my potentials, knowledge and skills through this stimulating project. I believe that it’s an extremely good opportunity for me, since working and interacting with people from various nationalities and scientific backgrounds will enhance the chances of getting better outcomes for the research development..
